Disaster management is a complex task, as disasters disrupt interconnected systems comprising socio-economic, physical, and ecological elements. Therefore, effective disaster management requires collaboration across various disciplines. In this talk, I will provide an overview of disaster management decisions and discuss how researchers have proposed tools to aid decision-makers in managing disasters, from mitigation and preparedness to response and recovery. Additionally, I will share my experience in disaster management research, utilizing empirical methods, modelling, simulation, and serious games. Rather than delving into technical specifics, I will present these concepts at a high level, aiming to foster multidisciplinary research discussions and explore potential future collaborations.
主讲人简介
Stephan Onggo is a Professor of Business Analytics at Southampton Business School, the University of Southampton and a member of the Centre for Operational Research, Management Science and Information Systems (CORMSIS). He is serving as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Simulation and Area Editor (Simulation) for Flexible Services and Manufacturing Journal. His research interests lie in the areas of simulation modelling methodology (symbiotic simulation/digital twin, hybrid modelling, agent-based simulation, discrete-event simulation, simulation optimisation) and its applications in the management of supply chain, health care and disaster.
